
A 16-year-old boy, Emmanuel Danladi, has allegedly shot and killed his 15-year-old friend, Titus Joseph, with a dane gun belonging to his father in Niger State.
The incident occurred on March 1 in Kwamba, located in the Suleja Local Government Area, while the two teenagers were reportedly playing at Emmanuel’s home.
According to police reports, Emmanuel picked up the loaded dane gun owned by his father, Danladi Baba, a member of a local vigilante group, and discharged it at close range. The bullet struck Titus in the stomach, resulting in his death.

Police officers from the Maje Division responded to the report and moved the victim’s body to the General Hospital in Suleja.
Following the incident, Emmanuel and his father were arrested on allegations of negligence and culpable homicide. The firearm used in the shooting was also recovered as evidence.
Both suspects and the recovered gun were later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation.
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that the case remains under investigation and will proceed to prosecution.
